Viral Video of the Day: Real Madrid Players Try Their Hand at Baseball

Real Madrid will play AC Milan next week in a preseason friendly at Yankee Stadium in New York.

No surprise, then, that Jose Mourinho's men are brushing up on their baseball skills. After all, you never know when Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez might want to play an all-superstar pickup game, right?

Actually, scratch that. A-Rod is out injured, the victim of a broken hand. So in all honesty, this could be something else.

This could be an open tryout.

I'm kidding, of course, but as you'll see in the video above, Real midfielder Xabi Alonso puts a pretty nice swing on a fat pitch right in his wheelhouse. If that wasn't a home run to left field, I don't know what would be.

Anyway, Real Madrid's humorous attempt at playing baseball serves as the B/R Viral Video of the Day for Wednesday. Enjoy, and then answer me this.

Why was everyone throwing underhand? Do they only play softball in Europe?

Also, has Iker Casillas never held a baseball bat in his life?

And most importantly, who would win the El Clasico of baseball?

Is it just me, or does Leo Messi seem like an impossible out in baseball? No one could ever throw him out if he just learned how to bunt.

Actually, it seems more likely that Pepe and Sergio Busquets would start the first bench-clearing brawl to feature theatrical rolls and peekaboos.

Leave your thoughts in the comments section. I'm sure this won't devolve into another Real Madrid vs. Barcelona hate fest.
