Arsenal remain close to signing Spain international midfielder Santi Cazorla from Malaga, according to widespread reports.

According to The Independent, Cazorla has flown to London to complete his transfer and expects to join the Arsenal squad for a preseason trip to Germany this week. The signing reportedly has not been announced because of Malaga's financial situation.

According to the Daily Mirror, Cazorla has met his future Arsenal teammates.

Arsenal have also been linked heavily with a season-long loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin (The Guardian).

But according to Spanish reports (cited by Metro), Manchester United could be ready to "hijack" the move by offering a permanent move.

Sahin, 23, made just four league appearances for Real last season.

Lucas Moura's potential move to Manchester United is back on, according to the Daily Mail.

The Mail reports that United and Sao Paulo have agreed a fee of £30 million for Lucas. The report also says United will sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal this week.

Lucas, 19, is part of Brazil's Olympic team. His potential move to United had apparently stalled in recent weeks (ESPNSoccernet).

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp reportedly has said midfielder Luka Modric was told he could leave Spurs for Real Madrid ahead of the upcoming season (The Sun).

Here's what Redknapp reportedly said:

I would not be sure Luka would start the season at Tottenham. The club would be happy to sell if they get the right money. The chairman said to him last year, ‘Give us one more season and if Real come in I won’t stand in your way.'

Tottenham fired Redknapp in June. Modric, 26, has been linked heavily with Real Madrid for several months, but the deal has apparently stalled (Daily Mail).

Liverpool have bid on Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez, according to Italian reports (cited by the London Evening Standard).

The offer is thought to be about £12.5 million and is not expected to be enough for Bologna to sell.

Ramirez, a 21-year-old midfielder, was part of Uruguay's Olympic squad.
