Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has recently made his concerns clear, according to goal.com, regarding the lack of options he has available in central defense for the first couple of months of the 2012-2013 season.

Captain Nemanja Vidic has just returned from a season-ending injury to hold the line with his experienced partner Rio Ferdinand whilst the younger guns, Evans, Jones and Smalling, are all sidelined with injuries that vary in their estimated needed recovery time.

Sir Alex cannot simply ignore the fact that Rio's form can be suspect at times in addition to his recurrent back injuries that seriously hamper his form as well. Sir Alex cannot forget that Evra's form is also dropping and that piles more pressure on the central defensive line.

The Solution:

Javi Martinez. A towering, young, attack-minded and talented holding midfielder that is amazingly a natural central defender as well.

The versatility that Javi Martinez gives the Manchester United team will cover key positions that Sir Alex has surprisingly ignored so far in the transfer window.

Manchester United desperately need a capable DM who will hold the midfield, guard the defensive line and be a threat coming forward.

Armed with impressive dribbling skills, Javi Martinez can terrorize defenders with his marauding runs.

The important question is: Why doesn't Sir Alex fork out the money to sign the player that Manchester United NEED the most and who most certainly MATCHES the ambition of the club for future success?
