Arsene Wenger has reiterated that he will not be rushing Jack Wilshere back into action, but concedes that October will be 'an important month' for the midfielder.
Wilshere has spent more than a year on the sidelines, with a niggling ankle problem preventing him from turning out in the Premier League, Euro 2012 and the London Olympics.
He is making steady progress in his rehabilitation, but the Gunners have been in this situation before.
They are prepared to take extra care with the England international as they attempt to ease him into their first team plans.
It is hoped that the 20-year-old will be back in contention by the end of the year, offering Arsenal a welcome boost, but Wenger concedes that it is difficult to put a timescale on his return.

"October will be an important month for Jack," he said.
"I will promise you that I will be careful, but Jack works hard.
"Every day he is in early, late going home, is focused and has built up a good basis for his body.
"After how quick he will be sharp again for competition, I don't know. We will have to wait for at least a month to see that."
