English Premier League: Top 6 Goals of the Week

0 of 6

This week in the Premier League, 30 goals were scored all over England.

Some goals were fantastic, and some were just plain howlers from goalkeepers. Lucky for goalkeepers like Petr Cech, this article is not focusing on the gaffes by the netminders this week.

However, this article is focusing on the spectacular goals that we saw this weekend.

Last week, less-heralded players of the EPL like Michu and Zoltan Gera topped the list. This week, the stars came out to play as three big-name forwards are near the top of this week's list.

6. Pavel Pogrebnyak

In the first game of the week on Wednesday night, Reading's Pavel Pogrebnyak scored his first goal for his new club.

The Russian forward was able to head home a cross from Garath McCleary for the Royals' first goal of the game at Stamford Bridge.

Although they got a gift from Chelsea keeper Petr Cech for their second goal, Reading were unable to hold on for points as they lost 4-2 on the road.

5. Steven Pienaar

Steven Pienaar delivered this goal in the third minute of Everton's 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Pienaar's rocket goal went past the outstretched arms of Villa keeper Shay Given.

The goal was the first of the season for the South African and his first since making a permanent move to back to the club.

4. Robin van Persie

After going down a goal early on in their home opener on Saturday, Manchester United got a much-needed boost from their newest signing.

Robin van Persie scored his first goal for United in the 10th minute.

The Dutchman's goal was a piece of brilliance, and he showed United fans just why the club shelled out the big bucks to Arsenal for his services.

3. Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres delivered his second goal in two games for Chelsea versus Newcastle.

Torres scored in stoppage time of the first half after a give-and-go passing sequence with Eden Hazard (who has made an instant impact on the Premier League).

The Spanish forward only scored six goals in the EPL last season and is already one-third of the way there in three games.

If this season's trend continues, Torres could be at the top of the scoring table when May comes around.

2. Martin Skrtel

5 of 6

Liverpool's first goal of the season was delivered in a thunderous manner by defender Martin Skrtel.

In the 34th minute, Skrtel sprinted through the box to connect with a Steven Gerrard corner and gave the Reds the lead at Anfield.
