Premier League Transfer News: Biggest Winners and Losers as Deadline Approaches

The transfer window has shut down, finalizing every team's lineup for the 2012/2013 season.

For some teams, this is a breath of fresh air, as they acquired assets over the summer that they predict will help maximize their teams' potential.

However, some other teams are looking back in regret, wishing they had either acted sooner or had lured in more investors to help them purchase players.

Manchester United and Liverpool are two teams that added value and talent to their sides.

Man United could arguably be the team of the moment for the upcoming season, as they have added even more depth to their offensive panel.

The Red Devils won over Robin van Persie, the man who led the entire Premier League in goals for the 2011/2012 season for Arsenal.

He will no doubt the perfect match for Wayne Rooney when he returns from injury. Van Persie is extremely versatile and can act as a goal scorer or set piece specialist. He's also a superb dribbler.

United also acquired Shinji Kagawa, another dangerous offensive machine who routinely demonstrated his abilities playing previously for Borussia Dortmund.

Tottenham Hotspur was another team who picked up players who will adjust their success for the upcoming season.

The Spurs have successfully snatched Clint Dempsey, a target for many attractive teams including Liverpool, Aston Villa and Sunderland (via Sky Sports). The midfielder is a huge asset to the Spurs.

Expect Jan Vertonghen, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Emmanuel Adebayor to also cause some stir for the Spurs.

It will be an interesting season for Tottenham, their roster could do real damage on the field.

Arsenal, Fullham and the former champions of the premiership, Manchester City, are a trio of teams that stayed stagnant, not improving upon their current teams.

Although Arsene Wenger is supposedly content with his latest purchasing forum on the market, The Telegraph reported Wenger to have said “We bought Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud so you cannot say we have not bought but, when you listen to people, you always have to buy more.”

It is evident that Wenger is paranoid and realizes that the supporters are questioning his motives. The Gunners fans will not support his decisions unless he can prove his motives on the pitch.

Although Wenger purchased Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud, he is left feeling lost in the defensive midfield region especially after losing Alex Song to Barca, and failing to find a legitimate replacement.

The Gunners were rumored by ESPN to be interested in Michael Essien, but it is confirmed by the Daily Mail that the Chelsea player has gone to Real Madrid.

Fulham lost Clint Dempsey (per the Daily Mail)and Moussa Dembele, and have only gained three transfers to replace two players who were instrumental to their offensive play.
