Manchester United: 5 EPL Signings to Make United Fans Jealous

By all accounts, Manchester United had a very successful summer.

Boss Sir Alex Ferguson pulled off quite a feat by being able to lure the world class Robin van Persie from rivals Arsenal and has already been proven astute in his purchase of the live-wire Shinji Kagawa.

And yet to look around the Premier League after the first few games of the season, United certainly haven't been the only team to have made impressive summer signings.

Here are five EPL newbies United fans would have loved to have seen move to Old Trafford.

A known target for Sir Alex, Belgian Eden Hazard eventually plucked for Chelsea over United when given the choice this summer, preferring the far improved financial terms offered by Roman Abramovich.

If the Scottish boss was to have known how effective Hazard would be adapting to British football, I'm sure he would have been more determined to get his man.

The flying winger has dazzled the opposition so far, twisting and turning past unfortunate defenders with the greatest of ease.

How United fans wish he could be doing so in a red shirt.

Spaniard Michu looked like the bargain of the summer long before a ball had been kicked this season.

He was coming off the back of an impressive campaign for previous club Rayo Vallecano, for whom he had netted 15 league goals from midfield.

Although it's doubtful that he would be a regular starter at Old Trafford, for only £2 million he'd be a more than useful role player—constantly roaming from deep to attack the opposition's penalty area with astonishing stamina.

United fans will have to make do enjoying his performances for Welsh side Swansea City instead.

It may be difficult for some of the Old Trafford faithful to envy a signing of rivals Manchester City, but if there's one player that switched to Roberto Mancini's club this summer to invite jealousy, it would certainly be defensive/holding midfielder Javi Garcia.

The Spaniard may have had a career checkered by injury problems, but when fit, he has been a very effective player for previous club Benfica.

At 25 years of age, Garcia is coming into the peak of his career and should push young Jack Rodwell out of the City starting lineup when fully fit.

Although, if United's central quartet of Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley and Anderson can stay fit, cries of a lack of depth in the position will be proven premature.

United fans got a firsthand taste of just how devastating Moussa Dembele can be in the middle of the park.

In the recent clash with Fulham, before Dembele completed a £15 million deal to London club Tottenham, Cleverley and Anderson were given the runaround by the beastly Belgian.

In his debut for Spurs on Saturday, he scored a world class goal, turning past a stricken Norwich player to put a powerful low finish into the bottom corner of John Ruddy's goal.

If Tottenham are to regain their place in the top four of the EPL, Dembele will be key to their challenge.

Arriving at Mark Hughes' QPR for only £4.8 million on transfer deadline day, the powerful Stephane Mbia may prove to be the former United man's best signing when all is said and done.

With the regular injury problems in central defence, the versatile Cameroonian would be a very useful backup at Old Trafford.

Also capable of playing in defensive midfield, Mbia has been a regular fixture in his national team since debuting over seven years ago.

He is one of the toughest tacklers in the game, capable of shaking an opposition striker to the core with one thunderous collision.

No doubt United fans would have been quick to warm to such a player were he to have arrived in Manchester.
