With Giampaulo Pazzini sitting out Italy's first training session, AC Milan's worsening injury crisis continues and Vice President Adriano Galliani is not happy about it.

It all began unsurprisingly enough, with Alexandre Pato pulling up injured during a work-out prior to the season opener against Sampdoria

Such a thing is unsurprising because the Brazilian, despite being only 22, has now had no less than 16 separate injuries in four years at the San Siro.  So, while Milan would have been disappointed that “the duck” would be unable to immediately fill the large shoes Ibrahimovic left behind in the offseason, it was no huge shock to anyone familiar with the club.

However, since then, the Rossoneri have seen Robinho, Abate, Montolivo and Boateng go down with one kind of ailment or another.  While the international break does provide some kind of respite which will hopefully allow some of these players to recuperate, it’s also possible that more could pick up knocks for their countries.

So just when it looked like it couldn’t get any worse for Milan, last week’s hat-trick hero Giampaulo Pazzini had to sit out Italy’s first training session with a knee injury.

All this has prompted club vice president Adriano Galliani to publicly state that a problem exists at Milanello. Football Italia have quoted him as saying: “The real problem at Milan is the injury crisis. Everyone knows it, both the Coach and the fitness staff.”

A similar problem occurred in the early to middle part of last season, and while some could point to the notorious San Siro pitch as an issue, that problem is hardly new and therefore doesn’t coincide with the onset of injuries.

The VP concluded: ““We have to do everything possible to find a solution and resolve this, as we are on an average of an injury per game.”
