Swiss Goalkeeper Launches Epic Goal from 80 Yards Out

This goalkeeper managed to mess around and drop one of the best goals we have ever seen into the net, a cool 80 yards away.

The video of the sharpshooter, via NESN.com, is from a match between Swiss amateur clubs Dardania Lausanne and Genolier-Begnins.

Dominique Niederhauser is the man in goal who comes well off his line to go after an errant ball. While the dangerous spot on the field could have led to a blunder, he promptly chests it down and sends it 80 yards the other way to find the back of the net. You can almost see the face of the other goalkeeper turn to utter panic as he realizes that this ball has a chance.

I imagine he is somewhere weeping into his oversized gloves at this very moment.

The goal came amid an eventual 6-1 win for Dardania Lausanne. So not only was the opposition throttled, Genolier-Begnins allowed what is sure to be among the year's most remarkable (and embarrassing) goals.

I still can't decide if Niederhauser noticed the other goalkeeper off his line and decided to fire a brash shot at goal, or if he was simply trying to clear it and got extremely lucky.

No matter, the fact is he scored a goal that will be the stuff of legend at every last bar in his town. As for the other goalkeeper, we can only shake our heads with condolence.

For shame.
