British freestyle footballer Matt Wolstenholme is the proud owner of a shiny new world record after juggling a ball continuously over a frankly astounding distance of 20 kilometres, i.e, 50 laps of the athletics track at Harrow School – a feat that took him over five rain and wind-lashed hours…

Our Matt’s achievement is made even more impressive by the fact that, in his early 20s, he was struck down by a mysterious problem with the nerves in his back that left him in chronic pain and unable to walk for over a year.

Now recovered fully, aged 30 and working as a personal fitness coach dahn Saaarf somewhere, Wolstenholme admits that it feels good being able to call himself a world record holder, even though it did very nearly go tits up a few times:

“Most of the time I simply kicked the ball from foot to foot, but there were a couple of hairy moments around the bends and every once in a while I had to use my knees to control the ball.

“It was a tough challenge, I was out there for five hours in the wind and rain and I didn’t eat or drink anything. Everything was aching by the end, but it was worth it.”

Wolstenholme’s record was actually set back on August 30th, but Wolstenholme faced a long and nervy wait while Guinness crunched their numbers and eventually got around to officially confirming the blighter yesterday.
