How much is Cristiano Ronaldo's sadness worth to Real Madrid?

That's a rhetorical question right now, but if the Spanish giants eventually decide to sell the Portuguese superstar, they can expect a significant financial windfall.

    But just how significant?

Elsewhere in this Thursday edition of the B/R World Football Gossip Roundup, we have updates on Arsene Wenger, Theo Walcott, Andre Santos, Cesc Fabregas, the Ferdinand brothers and Pepe Reina.

Arsenal Tidbits

Plenty of Arsenal news to relay today.

First, chief executive Ivan Gazidis has hinted the club could offer manager Arsene Wenger a contract extension. Wenger's current deal runs out in 2014, and Wenger declined to discuss the potential extension (via The Guardian).

"At the moment I am not in the mood to think about the long-term future," Wenger said. "We want to do well this season, that's all."

Metro reports that Italian giants Juventus are planning a £10 million bid for Arsenal midfielder Theo Walcott. The 23-year-old England international joined Arsenal from Southampton in 2006, and his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Finally, defender Andre Santos has been charged with dangerous driving (per BBC). Santos, 29, was arrested Aug. 17 in North London.

Cesc Fabregas will not leave Barcelona on loan in January, according to Barcelona defender Gerard Pique (per talkSPORT).

Fabregas, 25, rejoined Barcelona from Arsenal in 2011. The Spanish international midfielder/forward has been subbed in every Barca match so far this season, prompting speculation about a potential move.

Withholding Handshakes

4 of 5

The handshake wars could be back this weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand is considering not shaking hands with Chelsea's Ashley Cole when the teams meet this Saturday at QPR's Loftus Road.

Also, Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand (Anton's older brother) is considering a similar snub when United face Chelsea on Oct. 28.

    The Mail explains:

The Ferdinands believe they were betrayed by Cole when he agreed to speak as a defence witness for John Terry in his successful court battle against the charge that he racially abused Anton last season.

Terry was charged with racially abusing Anton during the Barclays Premier League match between QPR and Chelsea on October 23. Cole’s decision to support Terry’s defence bemused Anton because the pair had been friends.
