Chelsea are ready to bid £30 million for Everton's Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the Daily Mirror, however, Manchester United are interested in Fellaini. The Mirror does not mention a potential bid price.

Fellaini was quoted last week as saying the current season could be his last with Everton (via Daily Mail). The 24-year-old joined Everton from Standard Liege in 2008.

Reading captain and midfielder Jobi McAnuff has called for a limit on players' wages (via Daily Mirror):

I can see why a Wayne Rooney should get a big bonus because of the amount of shirts he sells. But if you’re talking about £200,000-a-week, that’s ­ridiculous. Who needs that amount of money? Surely, someone will say "That’s enough."

McAnuff, 30, also said many fans could not afford tickets to Reading's match at Chelsea earlier this season.

Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand is considering civil action against John Terry, if Terry does not receive "serious punishment" in the Football Association's upcoming inquiry over alleged racist actions (via Daily Telegraph).

Terry and Ferdinand were involved in an on-field incident last October that led to Terry being tried in British court for allegedly making racist statements. He was found not guilty (via The Guardian).

Ferdinand declined to shake hands with Terry prior to the match between QPR and Chelsea on Saturday. QPR's Park Ji-Sung also declined to shake Terry's hand when the captains met at midfield before the match.

Liverpool's players were "disappointed" by the club's failure to replace forward Andy Carroll at the transfer deadline (via talkSPORT).

Carroll, who signed with Liverpool for £35 million in January 2011, joined West Ham on loan before the deadline closed (via BBC Sport). Liverpool did not sign a replacement.

Shelvey said (via talkSPORT):

As a team, when the transfer window passed we were all disappointed that we didn’t get to bring anyone in but that’s when we’ve all got to step up to the plate.

We’re going to have to break down teams because we haven’t got a Plan B. We can’t lump it up the pitch because we haven’t got the kind of player to do that. We need to keep being patient and keep working on openings.

[Brendan Rodgers] said he sees me as a goal threat and I had a few chances today but I couldn’t score but hopefully it will come.

Liverpool are 17th in the table through four matches, having collected two points and scored three goals. Reading, who are 19th, have two matches in hand.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has made pointed comments about his club ahead of its Champions League match against English champions Manchester City this week.

Real won the Spanish title last season, and Mourinho—who formerly managed Chelsea in England—said his is a club "like no other" (via The Sun):

Real Madrid is Real Madrid, it’s the real thing. A club no football result, no cup competition, no coach, no player can ever change.
