Manchester City Transfers: 5 Big-Name January Targets for Roberto Mancini

0 of 5

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini could have some big-name transfer targets lined up for the January transfer window.

City finished the summer window with four signings overall and let a few players go in the process.

It's hard to come up with a realistic list of targets for a club like Manchester City, considering they really don't need any new players. However, if they were to introduce new signings, current players would likely have to leave first.

The following players are sure to be linked to the club during the January transfer window, even if it may not be logical for Mancini to sign them.

Here are five big-name January targets Roberto Mancini will likely consider.

Fernando Llorente

Manchester City have been linked with Spanish forward Fernando Llorente (via the Daily Mirror).

According to Sky Sports, Llorente is likely to look into his transfer options come January.

However, City would face some stiff competition from Juventus, who were interested in the striker all summer (via ESPN Soccernet).

Daniel Agger

If Roberto Mancini continues to use his 3-5-2 formation this season, he must bolster his options at center-back.

Daniel Agger would provide the club with a solid, tested Premier League option who is comfortable on the ball.

City were interested in the player in August, according to the The Guardian, and Roberto Mancini could renew his interest in the player in January depending on his tactical plans.

Radamel Falcao

Radamel Falcao is the best pure striker in the game right now, and has attracted the attention of Europe's biggest clubs with his clinical finishing.

According to Metro, Falcao's father has spoken about the possibility of the striker moving to England in January.

Roberto Mancini is sure to be interested in the Colombian if he continues in his current form, and if one of his current forwards departs.

Theo Walcott

According to The Telegraph, Theo Walcott caught the interest of Manchester City and Liverpool after he rejected a contract extension at Arsenal toward the end of the transfer window.

If that situation is not rectified, Arsenal could end up losing Walcott on the cheap in January or for free next summer.

Arsene Wenger recently admitted that he is concerned about the situation, and City could be one team to take advantage (via ESPN Soccernet).

Stevan Jovetic

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are closing in on a deal for versatile Fiorentina attacker Stevan Jovetic.

City were linked (via ESPN Soccernet) to the player during the summer. Therefore, whether the Daily Mail report is true or not, Mancini is likely keeping an eye on the Montenegrin attacker.

As with the other forward players on this list, any deal for Jovetic would require one of City's current attackers to depart.
