La Liga Team of the Week: Ronaldo, Isco and Griezmann Explode

0 of 13

Round 6 for La Liga is in the books, and there's no shortage of absorbing games to get your teeth into.

A certain few players sparked into life this weekend, and this Team of the Week is as potent and exciting as any.

Real Madrid finally hit form, Real Sociedad overcame their recent derby blues and Real Valladolid hit sorry Rayo Vallecano for six.

Please note: Getafe vs. Mallorca is yet to commence. This team will be updated after the clash at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

Honourable Mentions

1 of 13

    - Oscar

    - Iago Aspas

    - Pepe

    - Antonio Rukavina

    - Vicente Guaita

    - Cesc Fabregas

    - Iriney

    - Andres Tunez

    - Lionel Messi

    - Sergio Ramos

GK: Gorka Iraizoz

2 of 13

Gorka Iraizoz put in a stunning performance to limit rampant Real Sociedad to just two goals during the Euskal Derbia with Athletic Bilbao.

Fernando Amorebieta's red card and subsequent concession of a penalty all but finished off Los Leones, but the truth is, Erreala had the game sewn up long before.

Iraizoz saw plenty of the ball, was dominant in the air and made eight saves in total. Despite winning 2-0, Philippe Montanier will be wondering how his side didn't see Bilbao off for a cricket score.

    Iraizoz, that's why.

LB: Nacho Monreal

3 of 13

Another standout performance for one of Malaga's best players sees Nacho Monreal onto this Team of the Week.

He recorded four tackles, helped his team to a clean sheet put in what was arguably the most solid performance of his defensive peers.

Isco, Javier Saviola and co. will continue to steal the headlines, but the Pamplona-born left-sider is fast becoming one of the premier full-backs in world football.

CB: Victor Ruiz

4 of 13

Valencia continued their inconsistent, patchy form, but at least they achieved the right result this weekend.

A 2-0 victory over a beleaguered Real Zaragoza isn't much to shout about, but three points is always important, and there were some fantastic individual performances that will delight Maurcio Pellegrino.

None were more impressive than Victor Ruiz's, who led his back line to their first clean sheet of the season in style.

Good passing, successful tackles and a presence all over the pitch were the key factors in his performance.

CB: Mikel Gonzalez

5 of 13

Mikel Gonzalez anchored a back line that kept a clean sheet in the fierce Euskal Derbia.

Real Sociedad lost both encounters with Athletic Bilbao last season, as Marcelo Bielsa's side recorded a season to remember, but Philippe Montanier's side took the spoils this time around.

These games are often bitty, scrappy and tough to watch from a neutral point of view, making the clean sheet Txuri-urdin claimed even more impressive.

Gonzalez saw more of the ball than most in this game, made clean tackles and remained calm in a raucous atmosphere.

RB: Joao Pereira

6 of 13

Joao Pereira, like Victor Ruiz, was key in Valencia's important weekend win over Real Zaragoza.

Not only was his defensive contribution solid and consistent, but his ability to shuttle forward complemented Los Che's attacking quartet.

Sofiane Feghouli in particular benefits from his marauding runs forward, which always attract the attention of one, if not two defenders.

Pereira doesn't always look flashy, but what he does off the ball in terms of attacking intent cannot be underestimated.

CM: David Timor

7 of 13

David Timor recorded one less tackle than midfield partner Anthony Annan in Osasuna's 4-0 victory over Levante this weekend, but his goal from the penalty spot finished off a perfect afternoon for the holding player.

Five tackles in total saw the young Spaniard continue his promising defensive start to the season, but he was also heavily involved with the ball as Los Rojillos controlled the encounter throughout.

Osasuna have been dismal this season, but they turned the corner at El Sadar this weekend. Can they perform like this every week?

CM: Isco

8 of 13

During Malaga's 4-0 destruction of Real Betis, wonder kid Isco touched the ball an absurd 112 times.

That's more than Cesc Fabregas, more than Lionel Messi and just 10 times less than Xavi during Barcelona's win over Sevilla.

Most importantly, however, is that he did something with the ball. He put it in the back of the net, to be precise.

Although his strike only capped off a convincing win, it was a deserved goal which gets him off the mark domestically.

LW: Emiliano Armenteros

9 of 13

Emiliano Armenteros put in a superb performance for Los Rojillos as Osasuna downed Levante 4-0 at El Sadar.

His first two games for his new club this season came in an attacking central role, but when taking on the Granotes, the Argentine was moved to the left wing.

His showing was utterly destructive and poor Christian Lell simply couldn't handle him.

RW: Antoine Griezmann

10 of 13

Across a truly outstanding Real Sociedad midfield, left-wing wonder Antoine Griezmann stood out. He features in this team on the right, as he's capable there, and Emiliano Armenteros had an unforgettable game.

To come out of the Euskal Derbia you need two things—defensive solidarity (which Mikel Gonzalez provided) and attacking ingenuity.

The French wide-man brought the ingenuity, finishing cooly from outside the box to open the scoring for the Txuri-urdin.

His mercurial performance may well give Andoni Iraola and Ander Iturraspe nightmares this week.

ST: Manucho

11 of 13

If Manucho turned in performances of this quality every week, there's a chance he could have hauled in the 40 goals per season he promised back in 2009 when he signed for Real Valladolid.

Consistent or not, the Angolan had a remarkable night, as his near-perfect performance contributed toward a huge win for the Pucela.

Two goals, two assists and a tidy game overall saw him recycle possession well, serve his teammates and turn in a 66 percent shot-goal conversion rate.

His first was a deft left-foot finish, and his second was a powerful header after setting up a one-two with Alberto Bueno.

ST: Cristiano Ronaldo

12 of 13

Real Madrid have finally found themselves on the right side of a comprehensive scoreline, and unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo had a major say in the result.

A hat trick for the Portuguese forward seals his passage into this Team of the Week and fixes his goals-to-game ratio, which had previously stood at less than 1:1.

Two penalties may have aided him in his cause, but he was back to his usual self. He let off nine shots in total, proving he's getting into the positions he found so regularly last season to such great effect.

Coach: Philippe Montanier

13 of 13

This award is very much open for discussion, as several teams put in some excellent performances that led to excellent results.

I tip my hat to Philippe Montanier, though, as he managed to overturn Real Sociedad's dreadful recent form in the Basque derby to overcome Marcelo Bielsa's Athletic Bilbao.

He masterminded some wonderful individual performances, and two of his players featured on this Team of the Week.

He's also overcome some difficult circumstances; the Sociedad fans haven't agreed with all of his decisions, and the decision to focus on youth was a bold one. As a result, however, Anoeta is now a sanctuary after three consecutive home wins.

In addition to Mikel Gonzalez and Antoine Griezmann, David Zurutuza had a wonderful game behind the striker and Asier Illarremendi put in an efficient, controlling performance.
