Manchester City Transfer Prospects: 5 Players Fans Desperately Desire in January

0 of 5

Manchester City fans know their club can acquire just about any player in the world, and there are certainly players on their wish list.

Though there is a great amount of talent in the current Manchester City squad, no team is perfect, and fans always have an idea of who they would like to replace if everything worked out well.

City is still in the hunt to retain its Premier League title, but it is in Europe where they seem to need help. Whether or not they advance out of the group stages of the Champions League would have an effect on any possible moves the club make.

For this type of list, we do have to look past whether these players are actually needed or if they would even come at all—these are simply players that Manchester City fans would love to have in January.

    Here is the list. Enjoy.

Stevan Jovetic

ESPN Soccernet reported in early October that Manchester City preferred to chase the signature of Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic as opposed to Colombian hotshot Radamel Falcao.

Jovetic has been in good form with Fiorentina so far this season, with six goals and three assists for the club.

The Montenegrin star could play in a variety of attacking positions for City but would most likely line up in a forward role or behind the forward.

Signing Jovetic—or any attacking player, for that matter—would mean the departure of one of the club's current attacking talents.

Neymar

It would certainly be a coup for City if they were to make any headway in signing the mesmerizing attacker, as he has been continuously linked with moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Sky Sports recently revealed that Neymar would not be moving to Barcelona, as rumours in the past have suggested.

A move for Neymar would excite fans of any club, and the Manchester City faithful are sure to be looking out for any possible news about the signing.

Daniele De Rossi

Having missed out on Daniele De Rossi during the summer window, Manchester City could be making a second attempt in January.

According to the Telegraph, Roberto Mancini still has his sights set on the Italian midfielder and has asked his new director of football, former Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain, to sign him.

City fans were sure to be disappointed that instead of capturing the Roma player, their team acquired both Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell.

De Rossi is certainly of a higher caliber than these two players and would be able to play in City's three-man defense, as he showed with Italy during Euro 2012.

Isco

Just like a lot of top European teams, Manchester City have been linked to a move for Malaga star Isco.

The young Spanish star caught the eye last season with some good performances for Malaga and has started off this season well.

Manchester City fans would certainly like another creative force in the squad, with David Silva struggling with injuries and Samir Nasri at times unable to unlock defenses on his own.

Isco has a decent goal-scoring return for a midfielder so far this season, with four goals in 14 games.

Sergio Ramos

When Sergio Ramos was linked with a move to City back in September, the club's fans had every reason to be excited (via Daily Mail).

City is certainly in need of another top-class defender if Roberto Mancini continues with the three-man defense, and Ramos would have been a great option.

Any possible move is certainly speculative at this point, but in the back of their minds, City fans are probably hopeful that something could work out with the Spanish international.
