A typical week in the world of football is not simply a "typical week." With colorful figures gracing every aspect of the world game, football has evolved into a dynamic sport which encapsulates everything from conspiracies to controversies.

Football "memes" are in essence a means of expressing these conspiracies, controversies and events in a humorous manner so as to make light of a particular situation. The intended purpose of the memes posted in this weekly slideshow are to give a light-hearted take of the previous week in football. 

Emile Heskey has proved somewhat a revelation for the Newcastle Jets after signing for them at the start of the A-League season. The former English International has already netted four times in five matches. Although he didn't score in the Jet's most recent encounter, he proved more than a handful to deal with upfront.

He has quickly become a fan favourite in Australia and has his sights firmly set on becoming the A-League's top scorer.

Heskey will take to the field against the Western Sydney Wanderers this week looking to continue his good run of form.

Can you recognise this player? Of course you can, David Luiz is perhaps one of the most entertaining figures in the Premier League. The Brazilian central defender is never shy of having a laugh, and this photo posted on his Instagram account certainly affirms his humorous ways.

The Champions League never fails to provide some moments of magic, and for the 60,000 that packed into Celtic Park to witness Celtic vs. Barcelona, that magic will continue to live on. Despite only holding as little as 15 percent for the duration of the match, Celtic managed to defeat the Spanish side 2-1 in emphatic fashion.

For teenage striker Tony Watt, the night will certainly propel his career after he doubled the Celt's lead in the 83rd minute. At just 18 years old, he is bound to go onto bigger things!

For those doubting whether Chelsea had the ability to qualify out of their UEFA Champions League group, those doubts were somewhat put to rest as the Blues went on to defeat Shakthar Donetsk 3-2 at home. In what was a thrilling match at Stamford Bridge, Victor Moses popped up late into injury time to score the match-winning header.

Moses' goal drew comparisons from scenes of the year before, where Chelsea legend Didier Drogba popped up to score a crucial equaliser against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final. With Juventus breathing down Chelsea's neck, the win will prove crucial when push comes to shove on the last matchday.

No week in football memes would be complete without the famous Mario Balotelli celebration surfacing in some way shape or form. With the presidential elections coming to a close, the opportunity to impose Barack Obama's head on the Italian International could not be passed up.
