Everton Transfer Rumours: 5 Players Linked to Summer Moves

    Whatever happens to Everton during 2012/13, there will be changes in the squad during the summer.

    The current Toffees team is in a strong position in the league and looking to claim a Champions League spot. Whether the club gets into the Champions League or not, the squad will certainly need to be strengthened when the season ends.

    David Moyes was unable to add to his summer signings during the January window.

    The Everton boss will still have to consider that he could lose some of his key players during the summer.

    Here are some of the latest players linked with summer moves in and out of Everton.

Fernando Amorebieta

    Everton is one of a few Premier League clubs Sky Sports reports could interested in Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta.

    The Venezuelan national is set to be a free agent when the summer arrives and would certainly be a great addition for the Toffees.

    Amorebieta has experience on the European stage that could prove useful should Everton make it to the Champions League.

    With Sylvain Distin getting up there in age, Everton could use extra depth in central defense.

Frank Lampard

    One shocking transfer rumour comes via the Daily Star's David Woods and Adrian Kajumba, who suggested Everton could be looking to sign Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

    Lampard is set to leave Chelsea after years of service and the attacking midfielder would be a valuable addition to the Toffees.

    Season after season, Lampard has shown his ability to get amongst the goals from midfield.

    Marouane Fellaini is currently filling that role as Tim Cahill did before him, but his future at the club isn't certain.

    Lampard would also bring plenty of championship experience and leadership qualities to the Everton dressing room.

    Everton could be sweating about the future of Marouane Fellaini until the either a deal is made or the summer transfer window closes.

    There's been no shortage of interest in Fellaini's services this season, as his performances have played a major part in the club's current position.

    The Belgian midfielder has been linked (per the Mirror) with a move to Manchester City.

    The player's comments, reported by Sky Sports, concerning a possible bid from Chelsea highlight his possible interest in a move.

Sam Byram

    Both the Express & Star and the Cheshire Today have reported Leeds defender Sam Byram as a possible summer target for Everton.

    The 19-year-old generally plays as a right-back, but can feature as a right midfielder or in a central role.

    Byram has featured over 40 times for Leeds in all competitions so far this season. 

Jonathan Pitroipa

    Burkina Faso star Jonathan Pitroipa has attracted Premier League interest with his performances in the recently concluded African Cup of Nations.

    Here's more from Sky Sports:

    Pitroipa was named as the Player of the Tournament and has subsequently been linked with a move to the Premier League, with scouts from European clubs closely monitoring events in South Africa.

    Reports in Africa suggest that Everton are in pole position to land his signature, while Fulham are also said to have shown an interest.

    Pitroipa currently plays for Rennes and has seven goals as well as three assists in all competitions for the French side.
