Who Are the Top 5 In-Form Clubs in Europe?

As we leave the Christmas period behind and enter a truly critical part of the season, who are Europe's most in-form clubs?

Bayern Munich's dominance both domestically and on the European stage is honoured here, but there are also a few clubs from lesser European leagues who are looking imperious to say the least.

Celtic have been top of the Scottish Premier League table since Matchday 7 and show no sign of relenting.

With a 21-point lead over nearest rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the SPL just isn't the same as it was when Rangers were a force.

The Bhoys are unbeaten in the league since the tail-end of November and even qualified from the UEFA Champions League group stage. Neil Lennon has them ticking. 

Viktoria Plzen have moved atop the Gambrinus Liga by three points.

Viktoria are on a 13-game unbeaten streak that includes comprehensively stunning Napoli over two legs and topping Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Europa League.

Their four-game league win streak saw them overtake Sparta Prague, and now they'll be hoping the UEL doesn't put a strain on their season. 

FC Copenhagen are currently bossing the Danish Superligaen.

They're 12 points clear of second-place FC Nordsjaelland and have lost just one game from the 20 they've played all season.

Their current league win streak stands at six, and the lead looks unassailable. 

We're looking at a top five, but these two clubs are absolutely inseperable.

FC Porto and Benfica are neck-and-neck at the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga with 52 points each, 16 wins each, four draws each and no losses between them.

The chasing pack—Pacos de Ferreira and Braga—are a whopping 17 and 18 points behind the leaders, respectively, so this year's title is between two quality teams who'll fight right till the very end.

The two teams meet at the Dragao just weeks before the season's end. 

While Arsene Wenger remained defiant in the face of the press after Arsenal drew Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, in private I imagine a very audible *gulp* emanating from him as he saw the results.

Die Bayern are unbeaten in their last 20 games—a streak stretching back as far as October—and have won their last eight in a row.

During this unbelievable run, the defence has conceded just eight goals, making their concession average less than 0.5 per game.
