The summer transfer window is rapidly approaching, and it seems that Arsenal are likely to be one of the most active teams throughout the window.

The Gunners have been largely disappointing throughout both English and European competitions this season. They have struggled to find the right mix of players to lead them—something that looks likely to be rectified in the summer transfer window.

The Telegraph reports that Arsenal should have around £70 million to spend this summer. Which, even if they lose the £35 million they would get for finishing in the top four at the end of the year, would still give them plenty of options heading into the transfer season.

Who are the latest players being linked with potential moves to the Emirates? Read on and find out all the latest Arsenal transfer buzz.

Gonzalo Higuain, Real Madrid

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is being touted as a potential mover to the English Premier League after falling out of favor at the Bernabeu.

The Daily Mirror report that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the striker, who would likely cost around £20 million. Spurs have a good relationship with Madrid following the sale of Luka Modric, whilst Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is thought to have contacted the player's representatives about a potential summer move to the North London club.

Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are the only two recognized strikers at the club, with the latter still considered by many to be an attacking winger.  Thus there is seemingly the need for another striker. But whether Madrid would be interested in offloading Higuain—who joined the club nearly seven years ago—is another question altogether.

Micah Richards, Manchester City

The Daily Mirror also report that Manchester City defender could be a surprise transfer target for Arsenal over the summer transfer window. The Gunners are thought to view the 24-year-old as a great replacement for Bacary Sagna. They could well tap into Richards' desire for international football at the 2014 World Cup with a deal.

Richards has been sidelined since October and is unlikely to challenge Pablo Zabaleta for his starting spot after the 28-year-old has thrived this year.

However, the England international knows he needs game time to come into consideration for the international team, and thus could move away from City. Which, with Roberto Mancini likely wanting to spend big over the summer transfer window (as per usual), could well free up some extra money for the Citizens to make their respective bids.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Saint Etienne

Arsenal are believed to have sent scouts to watch attacking sensation Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang play for Saint-Etienne during the week (per The Metro).

Dubbed the "African Neymar", Aubameyang has netted 16 goals for the French club this year (including one in front of the Gunners' scouts) and will likely receive plenty of attention from Premier League clubs about a potential move this summer.

Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to be interested in picking up the striker for around £10-15 million this summer.

Adam Maher, AZ Alkmaar

Our last bit of transfer news is in regard to teenage midfielder Adam Maher, who has attracted plenty of Premier League attention over the past year. Arsenal and Manchester City are thought to be battling it out for the Dutch international, according to reports from The Daily Mail.

Manchester City have joined Arsenal by showing interest in AZ Alkmaar’s Adam Maher. The Holland midfielder, 19, is valued at £10m and expects to leave the club at the end of the season.

City's director of football Txiki Begiristain has held talks with the playmaker and asked him to attend a game at the Etihad.

Where Maher would fit in the Gunners' strong midfield is not yet known, with interest still thought to be relatively preliminary at this stage by the London club.
