Borussia Dortmund star eyes Manchester United switch

Borussia Dortmund ace Mario Gotze has revealed a move to Manchester United would appeal to him.

United - along with Arsenal - have been linked with moves for the German wonderkid who has been likened to Jack Wilshere.

With Paul Scholes' career coming to end, Sir Alex Ferguson has been searching for potential new blood for the heart of his midfield.

Gotze's agent suggested in January last year that United had approached Dortmund about a possible move for the youngster, although nothing materialised.

The 20-year-old penned a four-year contract extension 12 months ago and Dortmund's director of sport Michael Zorc says the club want him to spend his whole career with them.

But, although he says his immediate future lies with the back-to-back Bundesliga champions, Gotze says a move to another of Europe's top club, including United, would appeal to him.

He said: "Clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are attractive, and playing in another top league would shape me and help me develop as a player.

"But I'm not thinking that far ahead at the moment. I'm happy in Germany and am delighted with the way things are going. Anything else is still a long way off."
