Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes admitted he found it hard to motivate his squad ahead of their 2-0 win against runaway Serie A leaders Juventus in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie yesterday evening.
The Bavarian giants, who were recently crowned Bundesliga champions with still six games to go when they won against Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at the Commerzbank-Arena last Saturday, humbled Antonio Conte’s Juventus on their own turf once again as the Bianconeri succumbed to a 2-0 defeat.
"Four days after winning the championship, it was not easy to motivate my players", Heynckes told Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo. “[We] actually had trouble getting rid of the pressure from Juventus and lost quite a few balls.
“But we took control of the game. We played much better in the second half, we showed our class and we deserved to win.”

However, Heynckes, who is set to retire at the end of the season, states the real test is yet to come.
"Now we have to see if we’re on par with Barcelona and Real Madrid.”
UEFA are set to conduct the draw for the Champions League semi-finals tomorrow at 11:00 UK Time.
