Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly begun talks with Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba about a possible return to Stamford Bridge according to French source Le10Sport.

35 year old striker Drogba left Chelsea last May for Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua but returned to European football with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray in January and has proven a relative success in Istanbul, scoring six and providing another six assists in 14 appearances during which time he helped his side to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Drogba is contracted to Galatasaray until the summer of 2014 but this source believes a move back to West London this summer is entirely possible.

Mourinho purchased Drogba in a £24m deal in July 2004, one of the Portuguese manager’s first Chelsea signings, and the powerful forward went on to become one of the Blues best ever performers and a firm favourite with the club’s supporters.

During his eight season spell at Chelsea Drogba made 341 appearances and scored 157 goals, helping the club to three Premier League titles, five FA Cup triumphs as well as a Champions League success to boot.

Mourinho has moved to strengthen his attack by bringing in young German Andre Schurrle and could well be considered the futures of both Fernando Torres and Demba Ba and may feel that Drogba could add some experience up front and there is no doubt that the super fit forward still has a season or more in the tank.
