Liverpool are close to signing Ajax duo Christen Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld but will also make a move for Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Reds have been tracking the £15 million rated Eriksen for awhile and Brendan Rodgers has chosen to make a move for the Dane after failing to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who moved to Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund had been chasing Eriksen but now that the German club have signed Mkhitaryan, Liverpool are free to sign Eriksen, with only Roma the other interested party.

Rodgers will also welcome Alderweireld to Anfield, with Liverpool paying Ajax a combined £22 million for the pair.

Both Eriksen and Alderweireld only have one year remaining on their contract at Ajax so it was always likely that they would both leave the Dutch club this summer.

The Reds have also made an inquiry with Chelsea about the availability of defender Ryan Bertrand as Liverpool try and build a squad capable of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Rodgers knows Bertrand well following his spell as a coach at Chelsea and took the left back on loan when he was manager at Reading.
