David Moyes has downplayed the significance of Manchester United’s 4-1 mauling by Manchester City.

He said the comprehensive defeat was just “one game” with “plenty more to come”.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini
“It was a very important result. Normally you don’t expect to win 4-0, 4-1 to Manchester United but the most important thing. after winning, is the way we played and I am very happy for that.”

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manchester United manager David Moyes
“We certainly didn’t start the game well. Manchester City were the better team, stronger. They got control of the game in the early part and and we found it difficult to contain them. I thought as the first half had edged on we started to get a little bit more back into the game. Unfortunately we lost the second goal right on half-time.”

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manchester United manager David Moyes (asked “are you disappointed in your players or was it just one of those days when things don’t go right?”)
“I’m disappointed that we didn’t perform because there was no reason. We played very well in midweek, there was no reason for us not to perform well today. But it’s one game. There’s plenty more to come and there’s plenty of time for us to try and fix it.”

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini (asked if he was disappointed his team had not scored more goals)
“Well disappointed no because we scored four goals but I think we played a little bit quickly in the second half. I think we tried to play the game box-to-box and it was not the way to play because we had four goals of advantage but we had so much space and we are always trying to tell the players to play independent of the score but I think it will be useful for us.”

SOUNDBITE: (English) Manchester United manager David Moyes:
“Well I think that our squad is really strong and today, obviously, if you miss Robin van Persie, it’s a huge miss to anybody. I’ve got to say Wayne Rooney could, arguably, have been the best player on the pitch today. I thought he certainly didn’t deserve to play in the losing team, that was for sure. He was outstanding today and what I remember back to probably as good as a Wayne Rooney as I’ve seen on that showing today. But, going back to Robin, it’s a big miss for us, yes.”
