Kelli Tennant gets smashed in the head by a ball while covering LA Galaxy MLS match but just laughs it off and keeps talking

US TV presenter Kelli Tennant showed she sure knows how to take one for the team when she was clocked in the head by a miscued ball while covering a Major League Soccer match.

Los Angeles-based Tennant hardly missed a beat as the ball kicked by a Vancouver Whitecaps player smashed her in the side of the head while she was doing a piece to camera ahead of their game against the Galaxy.

The former University of Southern Carolina volleyball player simply laughed off the blow and finished her sentence like a true professional.

The Time Warner Cable SportsNet reporter, who also covers LA basketball teams the Lakers and Sparks, and baseball's Dodgers, said Whitecaps players tried to make amends with a hug.

'Taking a ball to the head during a live shot,' she posted on Instagram. 'Never looked better. I will say, the Whitecaps players came over and gave me a hug to apologize.'

When asked by a concerned follower how she was on Twitter, Tennant responded: 'Haha, I'm good.'

Tennant's official Facebook page says she played two seasons for the USC Trojan, and was co-captain, but quit after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Before joining SportsNet she covered AVP beach volleyball.

As for the Whitecaps, there was no karma as they came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with the Galaxy.
