‘Man Utd & PSG to bid for Di Maria’

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be lining up offers for Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria.

AS reports that the pair will make bids of €60m but Madrid would need €70m before they consent to letting the Argentina international go.

But Di Maria is said to want to quit Santiago Bernabeu despite Carlo Ancelotti hoping to keep him at the club. It’s claimed that Manchester City, Arsenal and Monaco are also keen on Di Maria but are offering less than United and PSG.

AS also allege that comments made by Di Maria in praise of compatriot Lionel Messi – describing the Barcelona forward as the best player in the world – were aimed at Cristiano Ronaldo, in an attempt to drive a wedge between himself and the current holder of the Ballon d’Or.

Madrid wanted to sell Di Maria a year ago, to recoup some cash after the signing of Gareth Bale, but Di Maria refused to leave and eventually won a regular place under Ancelotti after the Coach re-shaped the team.

Di Maria helped Madrid to the Copa Del Rey-Champions League double, but if he does go, will likely be replaced by Colombia and Monaco star James Rodriguez.
