Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Sami Khedira after Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti refused to rule out a deal, despite insisting the German has not handed in a transfer request.
Ancelotti has already today revealed Angel Di Maria’s desire to leave the Bernabeu amid interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
But while the Italian says Khedira has made no such request yet, he appeared less than convinced the midfielder would still be at the club at the end of the transfer window.
‘Khedira’s situation is different than Di Maria’s situation,’ said the Real Madrid boss.
‘He has just one more year to go on his current contract and he has only recently come back from a serious injury.
‘We will see what happens, but he has not requested a transfer.’
Arsenal are believed to be stepping up their interest in Khedira following injury to captain Mikel Arteta, sustained in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Besiktas.
