Premier League Team of Week 2: Jovetic, Lamela, Courtois and Dier Star

Welcome to the second installment of our Premier League Team of the Week for the 2014-15 season!

Here we analyse every game and pick out a star XI, choosing the best players in each position to meld a workable formation (here, a 4-3-3).

Fair warning to you: There aren't any Manchester United players after another iffy showing, but Tottenham Hotspur are understandably well represented.

Thibaut Courtois, like Hugo Lloris, has the habit of impacting games as a goalkeeper even when his side are superior.

He made a key stop one vs. one against David Nugent at 0-0 to keep Chelsea level, then later made several more outstretched saves to keep his sheet clean.

Petr Cech will remain idle—and eventually leave—if Courtois keeps this up, while he also made BBC Sport's selection, with Garth Crooks praising his impact against Nugent in particular.

Eric Dier, goal machine.

That's two in two for the gentle giant, and he even managed to put in another stellar showing playing at right-back in place of Kyle Naughton.

Jan Vertonghen returned to the starting XI, pushing the Englishman over to the right, but he got forward to net from a corner and looked calm throughout.

Swansea City made it two wins from two to begin the season, beating Burnley 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

Ashley Williams was at the centre of everything defensively, winning plaudits from The Mirror's Alex Richards for steering a shaky-looking Jordi Amat through a tough battle.

He struggled in the air with just a 33 percent success rate, per WhoScored.com, but dominated on the ground and with the ball at his feet.

Vincent Kompany was very impressive in central defence for Manchester City on Monday night, leading his side to a 3-1 victory and slamming the door—for the most part—on Liverpool's attack.

The Reds were probably the better side for the first 40 minutes, as Brendan Rodgers stated to Sky Sports 1 after the game, but they came away with nothing due to the Belgian's excellence.

Danny Rose had a shocking 2013-14 season, but perhaps he simply wasn't motivated enough?

He's responded to the pressure of Ben Davies signing for £10 million and is now living up to his new five-year deal. Many eyebrows were raised when he signed it ahead of the opening day, but he's playing well at the moment, and if he keeps it up, the fans will accept him.

Against Queens Park Rangers he was dominant, saw lots of the ball and bagged an assist.

James McCarthy had an astonishing 85 minutes or so for Everton against Arsenal, pressing in midfield, winning possession back and filling in the gaps.

His energy and rampant style are a real hit at Goodison Park, and the £13 million Roberto Martinez spent to take him from Wigan Athletic now looks a bit of a bargain.

Lee Cattermole was unfortunate not to crack our Premier League Team of the Week last week, scoring a thunderbolt from distance against West Bromwich Albion.

Here we honour him after he made it two stellar appearances from two, running the show in midfield against Louis van Gaal's Manchester United with ease.

He broke up play and burst forward frequently.

Another week, another scintillating showing from Cesc Fabregas.

The Spaniard has already proved he can be the difference this year in the Blues' title race if he stays fit and healthy, starting attacks from deep, instigating counters and firing killer balls into the box.

We could have pipped for Nemanja Matic here as he was also impressive, but Cesc takes the biscuit.

Erik Lamela is coming good under Mauricio Pochettino, and if pre-season didn't convince you of his talents, the decking of Queens Park Rangers surely will.

He was Tottenham Hotspur's official Man of the Match, garnering 64.3 percent of the voting, and he popped up all over the pitch—much to Harry Redknapp's annoyance.

He picked up two assists on the day.

Nacer Chadli is a frequent source of frustration for Tottenham Hotspur fans and a target area for jokes from opposing supporters, but he started against Queens Park Rangers and bagged a brace to kick things off in style.

"We have Ade [Adebayor] at the top and then behind him we have me, Christian [Eriksen] and Erik [Lamela], who can change positions all the time," he told Ben Pearce of The Tottenham Journal this week.

"That makes it difficult for the opponents to choose which one of us to pick up. It becomes automatic and we're trying to play like that."

Chadli likes the new system under Mauricio Pochettino!

Stevan Jovetic rewarded his manager's faith in him by scoring a brace against Liverpool on Monday night.

With Edin Dzeko limping off in the second half, there's a chance we see the Montenegrin paired with the mighty Sergio Aguero this weekend, and it'll be interesting to see if they can work in tandem.

Glory in two-goal form has been a long time coming for Jovetic.
