Jamie Carragher gets in the ring with Everton fan Tony Bellew

Liverpool man uses boxing as the best way to keep fit

Jamie Carragher

Jamie Carragher is being trained in the ring by Everton fan Tony Bellew.

The former Liverpool and England star and Sky Sports pundit has taken up boxing to keep fit.

Bellew, who takes on Nathan Cleverly on Sky Sports Box Office on November 22, has been in the ring with him and believes he could be a white-collar success.

Carragher, though, was not as keen, admitting he picked up boxing to keep in shape once he had retired from the game in 2013.

"As soon as I finished playing I knew I had to keep fit," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I knew a few of the lads in here, I'd met Tony briefly and got into the routine and come here every morning.

"I drop the kids off at school, come in here, meet up with the lads and keep fit."

And Carragher, even though Bellew is a mad Everton fan, wished the cruiserweight good luck against Cleverly - and expects his friend to level the score 1-1.
