10 Spurs Players Who Should Fear For Their Future

It's not just Pochettino who should be feeling the pressure this winter.

Spurs are in a mess. If one needs an example of how not to run a football club following the departure of their only world-class starlet, all they need to do is take a leaf out of Daniel Levy's book. Not only does he have a notorious reputation as a ruthless hirer-and-firer, refusing to allow managers the required time to implement their strategies and tactics to good effect, but the Spurs chairman introduced technical director Franco Baldini to White Hart Lane last summer. That was where their problems began. Andre Villas-Boas' time in England did not go so well, but that was arguably due to the fact that he worked with two interfering and ruthless owners, with Levy seemingly instructing Baldini to acquire players without the Portuguese boss' say-so. Instead of the former Chelsea manager being granted the targets on his wish-list, which included Joao Moutinho, David Villa and Hulk, he was saddled with a string of overpaid players drafted in from abroad as the club looked to fill the void left from the impending sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. The next Spurs boss Tim Sherwood hung out several of his players to dry, lambasting their 'desire' and 'attitude', and just six months later, current head-honcho Mauricio Pochettino is questioning whether a 'change in mentality' is necessary following a series of pitiful results and even worse performances. The players look lazy, disheartened and disinterested, and unless they buck up their ideas in the next number of weeks and months, Pochettino may need to rethink who he wants to keep past the end of the season. Whether he gets to make those calls is another matter. Take a look at the ten Spurs players who should be fearing for their careers at the club right now.
