Özil has not featured for the Gunner since damaging his knee ligaments during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in October.

The Arsenal playmaker has made two assists and scored one goal in nine appearances for the North-London based club this season.

The 25-year-old became the first player of Turkish origin to win the World Cup when Germany lifted the trophy in Brazil last summer.

The former Real Madrid star received the Laureus charity award last month for helping children in need during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Özil used his World Cup bonus to fund operations for 23 seriously ill Brazilian children.
