Paris St-Germain's Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani will miss their side's next two matches as punishment for returning late from a mid-season break.
The South American duo will train on their own for a week and have been fined by the French champions after missing a training camp in Morocco.
They will miss a French Cup tie against Montpellier on Monday and a Ligue 1 match against Bastia on 10 January.
"I find it inadmissible and unacceptable," said boss Laurent Blanc.
Uruguay striker Cavani, 27, and Argentine forward Lavezzi, 29, were absent from a winter training camp in Morocco which culminated in a 1-0 friendly win over Inter Milan, and neither player appeared at the club's first training session of the new year.
Blanc said their decision to return late so they could spend more time with their families hindered his team's ambitions for the second half of the season.
He said: "When you're in a sports club, a collective project, once you put a personal project before the group, it puts the group in danger. I detest that. Once you meddle with the group and the team, I can become nasty and unforgiving."
PSG are third in Ligue 1, a point behind Lyon and three points behind leaders Marseille.
