Steven Gerrard is reportedly on the brink of signing an 18-month contract with MLS giants LA Galaxy.

The Liverpool captain last week announced he would depart Anfield at the end of the season, with a switch to America widely anticipated.

And according to the BBC, the 34-year-old – who scored both goals in Liverpool’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over AFC Wimbledon last night – is on the verge of agreeing terms with LA Galaxy, David Beckham’s former club.

The contract is expected to be worth £4m a year over 18 months, which would place him among the top earners in the MLS.

Gerrard’s former Liverpool team-mate Robbie Keane currently plays for Galaxy.
