CRUNCH TALKS: Rodgers will meet with Liverpool's top brass [GETTY]

The Reds’ co-owner and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon will grill Rodgers on his season of failure.

But despite having been forced to witness Liverpool fail to challenge in both the Premier League and Europe, their position remains the same – Rodgers’ job is not up for discussion.

The Kop top brass are likely to meet with Rodgers tomorrow (Weds) to analyse how Liverpool went from Premier League title challengers to Champions League also-rans this season.

Rodgers will also be discussing his plans for the future with Werner and Gordon hopeful they will have similar views.

One of the topics up for debate is the club’s transfer policy and what went wrong last summer.

The Reds manager will have to agree to continue with their current plan – with the main focus on buying players with future potential.

Rodgers is closing in on a deal for 29-year-old James Milner, who is not in that bracket but is a free transfer and is keen on a central midfield role following Steven Gerrard’s departure.

But they will have to pay a substantial fee to a tribunal for Danny Ings unless they can sort a deal with Burnley, but he is 22 and still improving.

Gordon – who will spearhead the meeting –wants to ensure they see eye-to-eye with Rodgers on all aspects.

The club do not want to head into a new season with any lingering issues hanging over the club that could blow up early on in the campaign.

They have yet to sound out any other managers as they still have trust in Rodgers for now.

But if the meeting does not go smoothly that could soon change.

Jurgen Klopp has been reported as one name they could turn to, but he is now set to take a year out after leaving Borussia Dortmund.
