AC Milan ponder move away from San Siro to 48,000-capacity stadium

AC Milan are looking at proposals to leave the San Siro and build a 48,000-capacity stadium.

The seven-time European champions, who share the stadium with Inter Milan, have teamed up with the designers of Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena and Beijing's Bird Nest stadium.

The San Siro once had a capacity of 85,000, but AC Milan averaged 40,061external-link last season while Inter had 46,246.

If plans go through, the stadium would open in time for the 2018-19 season.
