Modric a month away?

Long-term injury victim Luka Modric is reportedly a month away from returning for Real Madrid as he enters the final stages of his recovery.

The 29-year-old has not kicked a ball since sustaining a hamstring problem during Croatia’s 1-1 draw with Italy last November, but Marca claims the playmaker has seen the worst of his setback and is on the road towards making a comeback.

Madrid may have hoped to welcome back Modric sooner, but with no set date of his return until now, Coach Carlo Ancelotti will be presumably delighted to have “his favourite midfielder” back in contention not before too long.

The capital giants are believed to be keen on easing Modric back into action, meaning he is expected to mark his return against Schalke in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on March 10.

Modric’s importance at Madrid may also have escalated following reports that both Sami Khedira and James Rodriguez will be punished by the club for their antics at Cristiano Ronaldo’s 30th birthday party.
