Worcester City defender Shabir Khan received an extraordinary red card yesterday, for channelling his inner Brock Lesnar and suplexing Stockport County player Charlie Russell in Worcester's 2-0 win at Aggborough.

Khan was fouled by Russell, and then in dramatic scenes rose to his feet and pulled off a perfectly-executed suplex on Russell.

The 29-year-old Khan was immediately handed a red card by referee 89th-minute in the Conference North match, while Russell escaped with a booking.

Lesnar, the current WWE world heavyweight champion, memorably gave opponent John Cena 16 German suplexes in their title match at last year's SummerSlam.

Stockport manager Alan Lord said after the game: "I've never seen that in my life – apart from in a couple of pubs, perhaps, but not in a football game and I'm still struggling to deal with the view of that in my mind.

"I saw Charlie put a late tackle in – which was a bit rash – but I didn't see any personnel complaining.

"Then I saw one of their players pick up Charlie and swing him over his shoulder.

"I haven't been one in the past to give a lot of credit (to officials) but I have to say they handled a couple of incidents with the due respect and caution that they warranted."
