Former Galatasaray player Zvjezdan Misimovic retires from football

The former Galatasaray attacking midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic has decided to retire from professional football football.

The Bosnian international released a statement to local media that he has decided to hang up his boots in order to spend more time with his family.

Misimovic began his career at Bayern Munich before moving onto VFL Bochum.

The  Bosnian playmaker made a name for himself while at Wolfsburg where he won the 2008-09 Bundesliga season and contributed with 20 assists.

Misimovic moved to Galatasaray in 2010 for €7 million on a four-year deal however, following a dispute with manager Georghe Hagi, the Bosnian was left out of the squad. Dynamo Moscow signed Misimovic from Galatasaray in the same season for €4 million.

The 32-year-old former player has scored 25 goals in 84 caps for his nation.
