Real Sociedad manager David Moyes said "I know I'm the best man for the job" after the pressure on him grew with a 2-0 defeat by Atletico Madrid.

"You cannot always keep changing your manager and think that's the answer to your problems," the Scot said.

The former Preston, Everton and Manchester United manager was appointed by the Basque side last November.

They ended with nine men as they lost to Atletico Madrid in a controversial finish on Sunday.

Antoine Griezmann gave Atleti an early lead with a run from the halfway line and chip over the goalkeeper.

Diego Reyes was sent off for Sociedad for a second booking late on.

Sociedad wanted a penalty when Jose Gimenez tackled Jonathas, but Atleti broke and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco sealed it - with Jonathas sent off.

The Brazilian striker, who was only an 84th-minute substitute, was enraged when he appeared to be tackled by Gimenez, who used his head, while on the floor, to bring him down in injury time.

Referee Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva waved away the appeals and moments later Fernando Torres set up Ferreira Carrasco to finish off a counter-attack.

Sociedad protested the decision furiously to the referee, who showed four yellow cards - including two to Jonathas.

Moyes' side are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference with six points from eight games.

Atletico are two points off joint leaders Real Madrid, Celta Vigo and Barcelona.
