Joel Campbell intends to battle for a regular starting place at Arsenal despite talk of a move away from the Emirates.

The Costa Rican winger, who has spent most of his Arsenal career out on loan, has seen his playing time increase with successive appearances against Swansea, Bayern Munich and Tottenham.

The 23-year-old, linked with Galatasaray, Rennes and Real Sociedad over the summer, scored on his first league start against Swansea at the end of October and believes he is ready to capitalise on any opportunity that comes his way amid an ongoing injury crisis at the Emirates.

"I'm an Arsenal player and I'm very happy here," said Campbell, who had loan spells with Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiacos and Villareal. "I'm fighting to achieve my aims and hope to stay here for a long time.

"We have lots of very good players here and I'm trying to take advantage of my opportunity, I'm just focusing on playing and performing as well as possible."

His improved playing time comes off the back of injuries to midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere and forward duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin and Theo Walcott.

Arsenal ended a run of five successive league wins when they were held 1-1 at home by Tottenham last weekend.

"It was fun to play but we all looked a bit knackered, especially in the first half and we gave absolutely everything to get a draw and we will enjoy the next weekend off and then back to duty the following week," Mertesacker said.

Arsenal, who sit in second behind Manchester City on goal difference, travel to West Bromwich Albion when the league resumes after the international break on November 21.
