Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski scores against Ingolstadt
Robert Lewandowski has scored 15 in the Bundesliga this season

Bayern Munich beat Ingolstadt with second half goals from Robert Lewandowski and Philipp Lahm to ensure they lead the Bundesliga at the winter break.

Pep Guardiola's side bounced back from their first league defeat of the season last weekend to win the inaugural league meeting between the two sides.

Lewandowski squeezed in his 23rd goal of the season after 65 minutes.

Captain Lahm then scored his first of the campaign with a far-post finish.

Champions Bayern play at home to Darmstadt in the German Cup next Tuesday night before going to Hannover next Saturday in their last league fixture before the month-long break.

Bayern cannot be caught before the shut-down with second-placed Borussia Dortmund now eight points behind before their home game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Bayern were tested by mid-table Ingolstadt for long periods but did enough to win thanks to two goals in 10 second-half minutes.

Poland international Lewandowski opened the scoring when he beat goalkeeper Ramazan Ozcan to a through-ball before shooting home from a tight angle.

Lahm has been a rare scorer for Bayern but the defender claimed his 11th Bundesliga goal to secure the points 15 minutes from time when he reached a Thomas Muller cross to shoot into the bottom corner.

Bayern coach Guardiola said: "A huge compliment to my team but also to [coach] Ralph [Hasenhuettl] and Ingolstadt for this courageous game. We played against the best team we've faced this season."

Elsewhere, Hertha Berlin moved up to third place with a 4-0 win at Darmstadt, overtaking Borussia Monchengladbach, who were thrashed 5-0 at Bayer Leverkusen.

Bottom club Hoffenheim secured their first home win of the season as they beat Hannover 1-0.

Fifth-placed Wolfsburg, who knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League in midweek, were held to a 1-1 draw by Hamburg, while Werder Bremen drew 1-1 with Cologne.
