Former Chelsea player, Graeme Le Saux, has claimed Manchester United will regain their fear factor with Jose Mourinho as manager.

Mourinho was announced as Manchester United manager at the end of May after the Portuguese was jobless following his sacking by Chelsea back in December.

The appointment of Mourinho meant that Louis Van Gaal lost his job at Old Trafford, and following two turbulent seasons where the club finished fourth and fifth respectively there is certainly room for improvement.

Le Saux believes that Mourinho is bound to do well at Old Trafford, referencing back to how successful he has been at all of his previous clubs, with major triumphs for the Portuguese at Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

Le Saux said: ‘You expect him to do well, he’s done well everywhere he has been.

‘It’s an enormous club with fantastic history that have found themselves losing a lot of reputation in a short space of time.

He added: ‘I expect him to bring back that fear factor and resilience United teams had over the years.’

However, like many, Le Saux has question marks over how Mourinho will conduct himself while leading United, following several high profile bust ups that have blighted his recent managerial career.

He said: ‘But like always with Jose Mourinho, you have to wonder what other things will come along as part of the baggage and we will have to wait and see and be prepared for it.’

The former England international was speaking at the launch of Budweiser’s latest campaign, Made by Fans – the first football fan brew infused with the pride and passion of football supporters from across the country.

Le Saux, said: “I couldn’t resist the opportunity to help Budweiser make the first ever beer infused with the pride, passion and commitment of the country’s football fans. I know first-hand just how powerful fan passion can be – it helped spur me on many a time throughout my career.”
