Ryan Giggs has hailed Manchester United’s latest signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the club confirmed the transfer on Friday.

The news came just one day before it was announced that Giggs would be parting ways with the Red Devils following 29 years of service.

Many United fans feared the worst for Marcus Rashford as a result of Ibrahimovic joining the club but the former assistant boss believes it’s an ideal situation for the young forward.

‘I think it’s a terrific signing,’ Giggs said on ITV following Wales’ outstanding 3-1 victory over Belgium.

‘At United we were short of goals last season and he’s a proven goal-scorer. As a player, you see a winner. You see character and a bit of class.

‘You want to learn first hand from more experienced players if you are Rashford, and Marcus can only learn from someone like that.’

Unfortunately for the United legend, he will not have the chance to work with Ibrahimovic and leaves Old Trafford to pursue his desire to be a manager.
