Robin van Persie took a battering from Arsenal supporters on Twitter following West Ham’s decision to turn down the chance to sign the striker this summer.

Reports suggest the former Gunner offered to take a sizeable pay cut to move from Fenerbahce to the Olympic Stadium after two seasons in Turkey.

The Netherlands striker is on a staggering £250,000-a-week deal at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium so it’s hardly a surprise Fenerbahce want him off their payroll.

‘We’re waiting for buyers, if he wants to be sold,’ Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim said earlier this week.

However, the Hammers have rejected the opportunity to sign the 32-year-old forward and will look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements – it’s believed Carlos Tevez is eyeing a return to East London.

Here’s how Gooners reacted to the reports…
