A host of Premier League stars were listed in the top five goalkeepers and among the top 20 defenders in world football as the FIFPro World XI was announced.

Alongside the unveiling of the world’s best XI, as voted for by players and coaches around the world, the rankings of the other contenders in each position were revealed.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was named as the top stopper in world football, with Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon taking second place.

Manchester United ‘keeper David De Gea was in third, ahead of Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas, while much-criticised Manchester City glovesman Claudio Bravo came fifth.

There were also a couple of Premier League representatives among the defenders.

Chelsea’s David Luiz was the highest ranked at No. 16, while Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin just made the cut in 19th.

Former Liverpool midfielder and Barcelona ace Javier Mascherano was also included.
