Dele Alli and Son Heung-min spared Hugo Lloris’ blushes as Tottenham fought back from 2-0 down to earn a point against Manchester City.
Despite losing four of their last eight league games, City started brightly and had numerous opportunities to take the lead before half-time.
Sergio Aguero forced Lloris into making two saves while Pablo Zabaleta, Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane all went close to opening the scoring.
Pep Guardiola’s side made their dominance count immediately after the break, however, thanks to Germany international Sane and a blunder from Lloris.
Reacting to De Bruyne’s long ball, Lloris was only able to head his clearance into Sane, allowing the 21-year-old to poke home into an empty net.
The stopper’s woes did not end there and, just minutes later, he gifted De Bruyne a simple tap-in after failing to cling on to a routine cross.
Despite the hosts’ momentum, Spurs hit straight back through England’s Alli – the in-form midfielder scoring his eighth goal in seven games with a close-range header.
With 15 minutes remaining, City should have been awarded a penalty as Raheem Sterling was pushed by Kyle Walker when bearing down on goal.
Guardiola was clearly livid with the decision, and the 46-year-old’s desperation was intensified just 67 seconds later when Spurs scored the equaliser.
After some neat build-up play between Walker and Harry Kane, the ball fell to substitute Son and the South Korean slotted an effort past Claudio Bravo.
City thought they had nicked a late winner when summer signing Gabriel Jesus found the back of the net, but the Brazilian was correctly adjudged to be offside.
The dramatic draw ensures City remain fifth in the top-flight, nine points behind leaders Chelsea, while Spurs move back into second place.
