Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was raging with the refereeing for Chelsea’s opener after Marcos Alonso connected with Hector Bellerin’s head jumping for the ball.

Alonso overpowered Bellerin running onto the ball at pace and his arm clashed with the Arsenal full-back’s head, sending him crashing to the floor.

Bellerin was taken off moments later due to concussion concerns and Wenger is worried about how seriously officials take head injuries.

‘It was 100 per cent a foul,’ said Wenger after the game.

‘It was even dangerous play. Bellerin was concussed.

‘Not completely knocked out.

‘He didn’t know the score at the time. He didn’t see the goal.

‘One of the peculiarities of the game today is that referees are much more severe with tackles on the ground and let much more go with elbows in the face.

‘It’s not only today, but in many, many games I see that.

‘But it’s more dangerous to hit the head than the legs.’

The goal stood as Chelsea ran out easy 3-1 winners against their London rivals.

Eden Hazard scored a goal of the season contender before former Gunner Cesc Fabregas rounded off the scoring after a Petr Cech mistake.

The league leaders are now nine points clear at the top of the table as Liverpool and Arsenal virtually ended their slim chances of chasing them down by losing their latest matches.
