Atletico Madrid want Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez to replace Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.

French forward Griezmann is expected to be Jose Mourinho’s main signing this summer in a deal worth over £90million.

And the Daily Mirror say Atletico boss Diego Simeone believes Chilean playmaker Sanchez is the ideal man to replace Griezmann.

Sanchez, 28, has been involved in a well-documented contract stand-off with the Gunners, and wants a bumper pay-rise to pen a new deal at the Emirates.

Simeone is said to be a huge admirer of Sanchez, who joined Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014, due to his determination and enthusiasm on the pitch.

The prospects of Sanchez signing a new deal in north London have taken a hit after the club’s recent blip in the Premier League.
