Mohammed Elneny is set to miss out on Arsenal’s matches with Liverpool and Bayern Munich after suffering an ankle injury against Sutton.

The 24-year-old was replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at half-time during the Gunners’ 2-0 victory in the FA Cup at Gander Green Lane on Monday evening.

Elneny had a scan on his ankle after the win and the Egyptian midfielder has been ruled out for at least three weeks, according to Football.London.

It’s understood Santi Cazorla will also play no further part in Arsenal’s season following his ankle ligament injury in the side’s 6-0 win over Ludogorets back in October.

With the north London club ten points adrift of leaders Chelsea in the Premier League, the double injury blow in midfield comes at a dreadful time.

The Gunners are in danger of finishing outside the top four for the first time during Arsene Wenger’s tenure in north London.

Manchester United trail Arsenal by two points, while Liverpool are just one point behind Wenger’s men.
