Liverpool have reportedly been in touch with Santos about the possible transfer of 17-year-old Brazilian striker Rodrygo, say sources in Brazil.

The Reds are short of depth up front at the moment and may be ready to gamble on this exciting youngster to bolster their options in the near future.

However, Rodrygo himself is unsure if he’s ready to move to Europe just yet, as he is yet to even establish himself in Santos’ senior side.

For their part, his club will reportedly try to offer him his first professional contract after being rocked by Liverpool’s approach, according to Globo Esporte.

Santos are known for producing top class young players, with Neymar the most notable recent player to make it big after starting his career with the Sao Paulo-based club.

Rodrygo has long been tipped for a bright future, and made history when he became the youngest ever player to sign a deal with Nike when he was still only 11 years old.
